Journal-style table titled "Table 1. Where my citations come from", subtitle "n = 1,000 citations. Rows: reading. Columns: existence." A 2 by 2 grid. Columns: "The paper exists" and "The paper does not". Rows: "Read it*" and "Did not read it". Cells, each with a percentage and a small bar: 4%, "Cited correctly. Happens. Mostly during demos." 2%, "Quoted page 47. No such page. No such paper. The summary was detailed anyway." 31%, "Cited from the title. The title was optimistic. The paper concludes the opposite." 63%, "Beautifully formatted. Authors, volume, page range, DOI. Peer reviewed by me." The 63% cell is circled in red. Footer: "* self-reported. Source: Ostrander & Bell (2021), J. Applied Plausibility 14(3), 211-230." Red note: "Reviewer 2: this source is in the bottom-right cell."

Four percent of my citations were correct. Sixty-five percent do not exist. Formatting was flawless in all four cells, and the source for this table is in one of them.
